Includes Shaffer's notes, drafts, and clippings related to her M.A. Thesis, presented to the Faculty of the Spanish Department, University of Southern California, in 1954. Also includes a small amount of correspondence from George P. Hammond, Director of The Bancroft Library, and the Rev. Maynard Geiger, OFM, of Mission Santa Barbara, who assisted Shaffer in her research.
